Country Comic, Uncle Doofus

Performs throughout the area as a stand-up country comic, Uncle Doofus, appearing in theaters and before special groups,

including a walk-on appearance in Branson, MO with Yakov Smirnoff. 

The Ohio Valley Opry feels very blessed to have Uncle Doofus on the show.

His antics and country style humor keep the crowd in stitches month after month.

In real life......

Tom Butterfield,  was born to Tom W. and Martha Butterfield on August 26, 1940 in Parkersburg, WV

Tom got his education from Wood County Schools, graduating from Parkersburg High School in 1958.

He has studied at Ohio Valley University, West Virginia University, Ohio State University, and has an

Honorary Masters Degree in Religious Education from Ohio Valley University.

Appointed as Director of Church Relations at Ohio Valley University, January 1, 2006

He married  Nina Drain on September 6, 1958

To their union was born four children – Mark, Brenda, Paul and Brian

Eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren were added along the way.

 Tom is a Church of Christ minister and has served many churches down through the years.

Activities:

 Served as co-director of intermediate week at West Virginia Christian Youth Camp for about twenty years, retiring in 1997.

            Conducts several Gospel Meetings each year

            Conducts Leadership and Church Growth Workshops

Mostly Personal:

Has owned Mountain Marketing since 1994, writing and publishing religious and self-help materials in a wide range of interests.

He and Nina have a retail business marketing outdoor Amish furniture – everything from rockers to gazebos.
