The Ohio Valley Opry is blessed to have Rick Troyer as our steel guitar player.

Rick Troyer  is not only a steel guitar player, but owns and operates Hummingbird Music Studio in Sugarcreek, Ohio.  He also is an accomplished instructor who started his career of teaching at the age of fifteen. At that time he only had two steel guitar students, one of which would go on to perform with Dan seals and the other is still performing in the casinos and clubs of Las Vegas. Things have changed a lot since his first days of teaching, though. At one time Rick had over one hundred students. However due to the demands of the store, he has trimmed his schedule to near seventy-five students. He now teaches guitar, dobro, mandolin, banjo and bass guitar, in addition to steel guitar. In addition to teaching Rick also enjoys song writing, and performing with local artists in the recording studio.

He started the store in 1988 with humble beginnings, having no inventory whatsoever. The store grew to meet the needs of over two hundred students. The store now carries more than two hundred instruments as well as amps, PA systems, and accessories.  You can check the store out on line at www.hummingbirdmusicstudio.com
